South Korea's parliamentary sports committee approved a hearing on the Korea Football Association scheduled for July 22. The hearing will review the appointment of the national team head coach and the federation's overall management.
The committee adopted the plan during a plenary session on Thursday. It finalized a list of 13 witnesses and 10 additional people to provide testimony. Four current federation officials are among the witnesses, including the vice president and executive director.
The former head coach and the former federation president, who resigned earlier this week, are also on the witness list. The former coach announced he will attend the hearing and answer questions. The federation stated it will cooperate with the parliamentary process.
Lawmakers from the main opposition party did not attend the session. They are boycotting committee meetings over the election of parliamentary chairs. The national team captain and another player were also named to testify at the hearing.
