South Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo met with a U.S. lawmaker and the head of a think tank during a four-day visit to Washington. Park held separate talks with Kim, chair of the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, on Thursday and with Walters on Monday, according to Seoul's foreign ministry.
During the meetings, Park said the two countries are closely cooperating to maximize shared interests through high-level exchanges and the implementation of the joint fact sheet issued in November after last year's summit.
Park also noted South Korea's work toward implementing an agreement on $350 billion in investments in the United States. S. Congress and policy circles to advance bilateral agreements in the security sector, including the peaceful use of nuclear energy, nuclear-powered submarines, and shipbuilding.
Walters stressed the importance of deepening strategic cooperation with reliable allies such as South Korea amid changing global circumstances and said the Hudson Institute will continue supporting efforts to implement the joint fact sheet. Kim noted that the bilateral alliance has expanded beyond security into economic, technological, and strategic sectors and called for continued close communication to implement the agreements in the joint fact sheet.
