Sandhoo assumed the position on May 11 while continuing as director of the Space Development Agency. The agency said he was elevated from acting director to permanent director.
The Missile Warning and Tracking PAE office will manage the Space Development Agency's Tracking Layer satellites in low Earth orbit. It will also oversee two programs run by Space Systems Command. Those programs are the Next Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared constellation, intended to replace the current Space-Based Infrared System satellites, and the Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking program in medium Earth orbit.
Eppolito, currently acting deputy director and chief program officer at the Space Development Agency, will become the agency's deputy director. Thomas Ainsworth, performing the duties of Air Force assistant secretary for space acquisition and integration, said Sandhoo brings experience to the new role.
"GP brings a wealth of experience to this position and is already jumping into his new program acquisition executive responsibilities," Ainsworth said in the release.
