St. John’s Names 6-Foot-11 Center Ruben Prey as Starting Center for Next Season
St. John’s announced that Ruben Prey will start at center next season after two years as backup. Coach Rick Pitino said the team expects strong performance from the Portuguese player.
nypost.comSt. John’s will start 6-foot-11 center Ruben Prey next season after he spent the past two years as backup to Zuby Ejiofor. The school announced the move Monday along with several other roster signings for the coming year.
“We expect big things from Ruben,” coach Rick Pitino said. “He’s been very patient, very loyal, like Ian [Jackson]. ” The team had explored adding other centers through the transfer portal, including Massamba Diop of Arizona State, before confirming Prey’s role. Prey, a Portuguese import, is listed at 6-foot-11 and will move into the starting lineup for the Red Storm.
