The festival opens with Comedy in the Square, a free outdoor show in Union Square Park from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on June 4. The evening begins with live music in the park's North Plaza before stand-up performances. Last year's edition drew more than 1,000 attendees.

Performances will take place at The Stand, Irving Plaza, Joe's Pub, Pier 57, and St. Marks Comedy Club. The festival also includes a preview of The Stand's new Chelsea Market location, scheduled to open this summer. The event is presented in partnership with NYLaughs, a performing arts nonprofit, and the Union Square Partnership.

The stated mission is to increase access to live comedy and create neighborhood-focused programming. NYLaughs founder Suzette Simon said the festival reflects how comedy exists in New York across different rooms, formats, and audiences, with the goal of creating an accessible and neighborhood-rooted experience.
