bbc.co.ukStansted Airport has opened an investigation after a staff member was recorded directing slogans and insults at passengers who had arrived on a flight from Tel Aviv. The footage shows the staff member moving through the arrivals lounge, pointing and shouting while passengers stood in line. Children can be heard in the background.
Airport response A spokesperson for the airport confirmed the event took place last week. Employees wearing high-visibility jackets directed the staff member away from the queue.
Previous incidents In March a Ryanair employee at the same airport faced an internal review after wearing a badge bearing a political slogan while on duty. The airline stated that staff are not permitted to display political symbols during work. A legal group had raised a complaint alleging the employee made remarks to a passenger who questioned the badge.
Ryanair reiterated its policy against items considered political or potentially offensive. The Community Security Trust recorded 3,700 incidents of anti-Jewish hate across the country last year, a four per cent increase from the previous year but below the 2023 total of 4,298 cases.
