Star Wars Spin-Off Returns to Theaters Alongside French Films at Cannes

France 24A Star Wars spin-off titled "The Mandalorian and Grogu" reached theaters this week, eight years after the franchise's previous theatrical release. The film stars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver and follows the success of the Baby Yoda character on television.

More than 60 French productions and co-productions are screening at the Cannes Film Festival. Local talent is featured prominently, with several historical films retracing the steps of 20th-century figures including Charles de Gaulle, Jean Moulin and Gisèle Halimi.
Animated films are also screening and are described as elevating the genre beyond comparisons to children's cartoons. One critic highlighted several of the festival's animated entries as notable standouts. Andie MacDowell appeared at the festival and discussed timeless beauty.
