A starter was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right adductor inflammation. The move was made retroactive to Thursday after the player left a start against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. The starter had thrown four scoreless innings before being removed due to discomfort in the right groin. Officials said the current injury is less severe than an earlier episode this season.

Roster adjustments A reliever was activated from the 60-day injured list to fill the roster spot. Another reliever was transferred to the 60-day injured list to create a 40-man roster opening. The team now has 15 players on the injured list, including 10 pitchers.

Officials described the current stretch of games as lacking an off day, which limited options for adjusting the rotation. "With Casey, we actually feel really good with where he's at, and it's less significant than it was when he had the episode in Atlanta," a team official said.

" The starter, who is 29, had posted a 2.27 ERA over nine starts this season before the placement.
