The state asked the High Court to dismiss a petition seeking the release of detained Gazan doctors. It said the cases had been reviewed and that freeing the doctors could harm state security. Updated reviews confirmed that the legal grounds for continued detention remained in place, the state added.
It rejected the position taken by Physicians for Human Rights Israel on the matter. A protest in solidarity with detained Gazans, including Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, took place in Ramallah city in the West Bank on January 14, 2025.
