New York Post reported that a statue of Charlie Kirk is scheduled to be unveiled in Times Square in New York City on September 10. The date marks the one-year anniversary of Kirk's death at age 31. Italian artist Sergio Furnari handcrafted the metal sculpture and announced the plans in a Tuesday Instagram post.
The statue shows Kirk wearing a gray sweatshirt with the word "FREEDOM" across the chest while holding a microphone. "It’s going to be in the middle of Times Square, the center of the universe," Furnari said in one of his Instagram posts, according to News Nation. "You can bring over whoever you want, family or friends.
Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University. Turning Point USA did not immediately reply to the New York Post's request for comment.
