Stephen Colbert appeared as a guest host on the Monroe, Michigan public access program "Only in Monroe" one day after his final episode of "The Late Show" on CBS. The station serves Monroe and the surrounding county. Colbert had previously guest-hosted the same program in July 2015.

Colbert opened the broadcast by referencing the end of his CBS run. "It's been an excruciating 23 hours without being on TV, so I am grateful to be able to be here on Monroe Community Media before they also get acquired by Paramount," he said. He also joked about streaming, saying viewers outside the area could watch through streaming, "which I promised not to learn about while I was on CBS.

Actor Steve Buscemi featured in a commercial for a local pizza restaurant. Colbert also facetimed Byron Allen, who is scheduled to take the CBS time slot. Colbert closed by thanking the co-hosts and asking to return. "Thank you for letting me host your show every 11 years," he said.
