The recall covers 2019-2026 Ascent models, 2025-2026 Forester models, 2025-2026 Forester Hybrid models, and 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid models.
Recall details The documents do not state the correct rear Gross Axle Weight Rating or the value currently printed on the labels. Officials estimate every vehicle in the affected population carries the incorrect label. Subaru will mail corrected labels beginning in January 2027. Owners may apply the new label over the existing one or have a dealer install it at no charge.
Notification schedule The first mailing, scheduled for August 25, will alert owners to the issue. A second mailing will follow when the replacement labels are ready. This is the second major recall the company has issued in 2026. The earlier recall addressed fuel leaks on nearly 70,000 vehicles.
