Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council president visited military headquarters on Thursday to mark Eid Al-Adha. He credited the armed forces with restoring territory and said operations would continue until all seized areas are reclaimed.
nbcnews.comPresident of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, visited the General Command of the Armed Forces on Thursday to deliver Eid Al-Adha greetings. He addressed officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers, praising their role in defending the country.
The event was also attended by Assistant Commanders General Shams-Eddin Kabbashi, Chief of Staff General Yassir Al-Atta, General Mirghani Idris, and General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir.
Al-Burhan said the Sudanese people's support had been central to recent gains. He stated that the armed forces had restored Sudan and would continue efforts to reclaim all territory seized since the conflict began on April 15, 2023. He specifically mentioned troops in South Kordofan, Blue Nile, West Kordofan, and Darfur, saying operations would extend "city by city" into Darfur.
Al-Burhan added that the armed forces would be reorganized after the fighting ends.
Al-Burhan described the future force as a "real army" with different equipment, efficiency, and structure from before the conflict. He said the experience of the past three years would leave the military stronger and more cohesive. He dismissed reports of consultations in Bahrain as "baseless and completely false" and said coverage in the Middle East newspaper was inaccurate.
He also stated there would be no Rapid Support Forces militia remaining in Sudan. Al-Burhan said the armed forces would continue the "Battle of Dignity" until victory and that the doors of the military remained open to fighters willing to lay down arms.
