Sudan's Council of Ministers approved the Draft Darfur Regional Governance System Act for 2026 during its regular meeting held Wednesday in Khartoum. The draft was presented by the Minister of Justice. The Prime Minister, who chaired the meeting, said the legislation supports national unity and social cohesion across Sudan's regions and communities.
The cabinet also reviewed a report on gold exports.
Officials briefed ministers on economic and security policies affecting the gold sector. The cabinet received a briefing on the role of the Integrity and Transparency Commission in combating corruption and promoting good governance. Ministers stressed the need for the commission to carry out its mandate with professionalism, credibility, and objectivity.
The Wali of Red Sea State briefed the cabinet on efforts to strengthen peaceful coexistence among tribal communities and on plans to improve port operations in eastern Sudan. The Minister of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities said the government is pursuing a reform and development agenda that includes new legislation and measures against corruption, narcotics trafficking, and smuggling.
