Sudanese health officials and a United Nations representative met in Khartoum on Sunday to review steps for possible expansion of cholera interventions and improving access to health services in priority states. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed held the meeting with Rosaria Bruno, UN Deputy Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan, AllAfrica reported.
Senior Ministry of Health officials also attended. The participants examined mechanisms to strengthen prevention and control efforts against the cholera outbreak while integrating health and humanitarian work. They stressed the need for better coordination to deliver services and assistance to affected populations across Sudan.
Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to close collaboration with the United Nations and humanitarian partners. Rosaria Bruno reaffirmed the United Nations' commitment to continued support for Sudan's health sector and its partnership with the ministry.
