eco-business.comA survey of 1,003 women in Israel found that 27% have experienced violent behavior from a partner or relative. The data, collected by The Israel Women’s Network and released Tuesday in the “Great Women’s Survey 2026,” estimate that at least 900,000 women have faced such violence.
The same poll reported that 10% of respondents, roughly 350,000 women, said they had been injured by a partner or relative. Twelve percent, or about 400,000 women, reported threats or physical force used against them for sexual purposes.
Ten percent of women said a partner or family member controlled their finances. Seventeen percent reported obsessive jealousy, surveillance, or ongoing attempts at control. The survey also asked about responsibility for prevention. Eighty-one percent of respondents rejected the idea that domestic violence is a private family matter.
Sixty-one percent said police have the ability and duty to intervene early and enforce protective orders. One-third of women identified the Israel Police as the main body responsible for preventing violence against women. The Welfare Ministry ranked second at 25%, followed by the government at 18%.
The poll was conducted by the Geocartography Institute to measure women’s sense of security and everyday experiences beyond cases reported in the news.
