Susan Boyle Withdraws from Boston Charity Event as Manager Advised Not to Fly After Dental Procedure
The 65-year-old singer cited her manager's post-procedure travel restriction as the reason for canceling her appearance at the David Yarrow Foundation's One More Party.
GB NewsSusan Boyle withdrew from a charity performance in Boston scheduled for Friday after her manager was advised not to fly following a dental procedure. The 65-year-old Britain's Got Talent star announced the decision on Facebook on Monday morning. "I'm so sorry to say that I will no longer be travelling to Boston for the David Yarrow Foundation event," she wrote.
Boyle had been given top billing at the event named One More Party, which was set to feature Scottish performers ahead of the World Cup. The David Yarrow Foundation raises money for cancer care research and creative arts in Scotland. GB News reported that some supporters questioned why Boyle could not travel independently since she had not undergone the procedure herself.
Other fans sent messages wishing the manager a quick recovery. Geraldine Easton serves as both personal assistant and manager to Boyle. Easton discovered Boyle at her home during the 2022 stroke that left the performer unable to speak or sing.
Boyle relocated from the council house in Blackburn, West Lothian, where she had lived for six decades, to be nearer to Easton. " Boyle is recovering from the stroke that severely affected her vocal abilities. She has described her speech therapy as taking "wee baby steps" to avoid setbacks.
"I never thought I would be able to come this far," Boyle said. "It took a while for my confidence to come back with my music. But I am getting there. " Boyle has also spoken about her reliance on support, noting her diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome.
"I am not strong on my own," she said.
