Taco Bell Completes Nationwide Removal of Taylor Farms Lettuce

Taco Bell completed removal of affected Taylor Farms lettuce from its restaurants nationwide on July 17. The company said the action followed conversations with public health officials and was taken voluntarily as a precaution.

Farms de Mexico announced it is voluntarily removing all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market. The supplier said the decision followed information from officials indicating a specific independent farm may be responsible for the outbreak.

Taylor Farms noted that none of its popular salad kits contain iceberg lettuce and that no other Taylor Fresh Foods products across the country are impacted.

Bell said the affected ingredient has been removed from its supply chain so customers can enjoy their food safely. The company encouraged other restaurants, retailers, and food service operators to take similar precautionary action.

Bell had earlier removed ingredients including lettuce, cilantro, onion, pico de gallo and guacamole from menus in the Detroit area. Taylor Farms supplies produce to major fast food and grocery chains such as Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, Walmart and Trader Joe's.
