diggers.newsPrime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba directed Ministry of Water officials on 14 June 2026 to ensure effective implementation of plans to expand access to clean and safe water. He spoke at a public rally in Kiomboi, Iramba District, Singida Region, and said establishment of a national water grid remains a key priority.
Dr Nchemba said the government has allocated sufficient resources to connect remaining villages to water services and that water drilling rigs have been procured for every region.
He added that completion of major strategic projects financed through domestic resources will allow more funds to be redirected to water, roads and electricity. Under proposals for the new financial year, funds allocated to water, electricity and road projects implemented by TANROADS and TARURA will no longer pass through the central government funding system.
Dr Nchemba said the change is intended to speed up implementation and improve service delivery.
