Target Appoints Isaac Mizrahi Creative Director at Large
The Minneapolis-based retailer created the role to support design, product innovation and new partnerships. Mizrahi previously collaborated with Target from 2002 to 2009.
abcnews.go.comTarget announced on June 15, 2026, that it is appointing designer and TV personality Isaac Mizrahi to the newly created role of creative director at large. In the position, Mizrahi will mentor Target designers, advise on product design and innovation, and bring on fresh partnerships, the company said. He will work alongside Gena Fox, Target’s senior vice president of design.
Mizrahi was the first major fashion designer to team up with Target on a fashion collaboration in 2002. That partnership ended in 2009. His clothing and accessories collection paved the way for later collaborations with designers ranging from Lilly Pulitzer to Missoni.
Target is a Minneapolis-based discounter. The retailer is known for vibrant colors in Mizrahi’s designs, who burst on the design scene in the late 1980s. The appointment is part of Target’s efforts to turn around sales under CEO Michael Fiddelke, who succeeded longtime executive Brian Cornell in February.
Since Fiddelke took the role, the company has reshuffled leadership and named new outside hires, including a Walmart executive to lead its supply network. Target has been concentrating on overhauling its fashions. In the home area, 75% of the company’s decorative assortment will be new.
Target reported in May the largest jump in comparable sales in four years. Target aims to reclaim its reputation for stylish clothing on a budget.
