Tartan Army Donates $15,000 to Massachusetts Children's Charity

Scottish soccer fans known as the Tartan Army donated $15,000 to The Massachusetts Child after saving thousands of dollars on bus transportation in Boston during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, @ABC reported. The group turned to First Student after an earlier supplier fell through.
Mike Teevan, a Scotsman who arranged the transportation, said the donation was fitting because the fans had traveled to Gillette Stadium on school buses.
"Some of the most enduring images and memories from the World Cup will be the Scotland fans traveling to Gillette Stadium on fleets of school buses, and it seems appropriate that it's local school kids who should benefit from the help we received," Teevan stated.
The Massachusetts Teachers Association announced the gift in a press release on Monday, July 6, 2026. The money will go to MTA affiliates in pre-K through 12 public schools to help students buy clothing, school supplies, books and health items.
MTA president Max Page said on Wednesday that the organization was surprised by both the outreach and the amount. "Since Mass Child operates entirely on donations, a single $15,000 gift is rare, and in this case a first, coming from a group of soccer fans visiting from Scotland," Page said.
Page added that the Tartan Army made the World Cup's arrival in the Boston area special through their joyful and generous presence.
