Tate brothers appear in Miami court as UK extradition case opens

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan appeared in a federal courtroom in Miami on Monday, the first step in proceedings to extradite them to the UK on 38 new charges that include rape and sex trafficking. The brothers, who have been held in a Florida jail since their arrest on Saturday, wore light brown prison uniforms and were handcuffed and shackled at the waist and ankles.

They spoke only to confirm they understood their rights.

Their attorney, Joe McBride, told reporters after the hearing that the brothers are innocent and will fight extradition. "They've never done nothing wrong. They shouldn't be extradited for crimes they didn't commit," McBride said. "It's garbage. " The judge set the next court hearing for 27 July.

Any final decision on extradition rests with the Trump administration. McBride estimated the process could take around 60 days.

The new charges stem from allegations said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Special Crime Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, said the charges followed receipt of further evidence from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims to seven.

The brothers now face a total of 59 charges. They were arrested near a venue where Andrew Tate was scheduled to co-host a bare-knuckle fighting event. The pair, dual British-US citizens, arrived in Florida in 2025 after departing Romania, where they also face charges of human trafficking and rape that they deny.

In the US they additionally face a civil case from a woman who alleges the brothers coerced her into sex work and then defamed her. >"They've never done nothing wrong.
