Washington ExaminerOn the tax filing deadline, the Treasury Department reported that more than 53 million Americans utilized at least one deduction from the tax measures in the GOP's tax bill. The bill introduced breaks on tips and overtime income, an enhanced deduction for senior citizens, a new deduction for car loan interest, and a higher cap on state and local tax deductions.
Taxpayers received an average refund increase of 11%, or $346, reaching $3,462 through April 3, according to the Internal Revenue Service.
