Taylor Swift Among Six Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame

Taylor Swift was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 11, 2026, becoming the youngest woman ever to receive the honor at age 36. The 55th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala took place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Swift is the second-youngest person ever inducted and the youngest woman by nearly a decade.

Stevie Wonder holds the overall record at age 33. Steven Spielberg introduced Swift at the ceremony. She delivered a 20-to-21-minute speech in which she described songwriting as instinctual. “It was instinctual.

No one taught me how to do it,” she said. Swift credited her family for moving from Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee, when she was 14. “I will never be able to express my gratitude,” she said while holding back tears.

She added that Spielberg’s example had helped her trust her imagination. Fewer than 500 people have been inducted since the hall was established in 1969. Songwriters become eligible 20 years after the first commercial release of a song.

The 2026 inductees are Taylor Swift, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, Alanis Morissette, and Kenny Loggins. Tamar Braxton opened the gala with a performance. Billy Corgan and John Rzeznik performed Kiss songs.

Paul Stanley said Gene Simmons was absent due to a family emergency. Walter Afanasieff was recognized at the gala, with Jeremy Renner introducing that segment. RAYE received the Hal David Starlight Award.
