Team Selects Quarterback in 2026 NFL Draft Adding to Roster

A professional football team added to its quarterback roster during the 2026 NFL Draft held in Pittsburgh on Saturday by selecting Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green in the sixth round with the No. 182 overall pick. Green, who played three years at Boise State before two seasons at Arkansas, passed for 19 touchdowns last season and added 777 rushing yards.

The team now has four quarterbacks: Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders, Taylen Green, and veteran Deshaun Watson. These players will compete for playing time under the new coaching staff. General manager Andrew Berry stated that Green has rare physical gifts, including size, elite speed, and a big arm, according to ESPN.

Berry noted that Green needs some polish but has the work ethic and acumen to improve.

Green will have opportunities to impress the coaching staff, including Todd Monken. Early indications suggest Sanders and Watson may have an advantage, as they split first-team reps at a recent minicamp practice open to reporters. 6 completion percentage in eight games, including seven starts.

Sanders took over after Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion in November, following starts by Joe Flacco, who was traded to another team. Deshaun Watson has not played since an Achilles tear in October 2024. The team drafted both Gabriel and Sanders in the previous year's draft.
