Four 16-year-olds arrested in connection with a robbery-murder in Tochigi Prefecture told police they had been threatened with the killing of their families and friends if they did not take part in the crime, investigative sources said Wednesday. The teens said Kaito Takemae, 28, and his 25-year-old wife, Miyu Takemae, made the threats. The couple was also arrested in the case.
The teenage suspects received real-time instructions from the couple during the robbery, the sources said. A vehicle believed to be used in the crime was towed in Shimotsuke, Tochigi Prefecture, on Saturday. The arrests followed the robbery-murder targeting an elderly woman in Tochigi Prefecture last week.
