Teenager Testifies at Murder Trial Over Fatal Stabbing on Irvine Beach
A 19-year-old woman told a Glasgow court she watched her boyfriend receive fatal stab wounds during a disturbance at Irvine Beach on 17 May last year. The High Court heard evidence from two witnesses about the attack and events that followed.
bbc.co.ukA teenager told the High Court in Glasgow that she watched her boyfriend's body turn white after he was stabbed at Irvine Beach. Keryn Knox, 19, said she had been drinking with Kayden Moy and friends on 17 May last year when the attack occurred. She described seeing Cole Turley stab Moy twice in the lower left side after he slipped while trying to turn away.
Knox said Moy then ran down to the beach where his body turned white and his lips turned blue. Elderly people at the scene attempted to help before an air ambulance arrived.
Knox told the court that Jay Stewart, 18, carried an extendable baton and a butcher's-style knife when she first saw him. She added that Turley also had a kitchen knife with white blotches on the blade. The witness said Stewart and the others threw rocks at the group before the stabbing. She denied that Moy had been holding a bottle during the incident.
Jurors heard that Moy and his group were members of the Himshie gang in East Kilbride. Stewart and the 15-year-old on trial are alleged to be members of the Murray Boys gang. " Turley, 18, previously pleaded guilty to the murder charge. Stewart and the 15-year-old have lodged a special defence of incrimination against him. The trial continues before Judge Lord Scott.
