Ten new car models start under $25,000 before fees
Business Insider compiled the ten lowest starting prices for new vehicles sold in the United States. The list reflects manufacturer base prices before destination charges, taxes, and dealer mark-ups.
cnet.comBusiness Insider reported that only a small number of new vehicles remain available with base prices below $25,000. The average transaction price for a new vehicle exceeded $50,000 in April, according to CarGurus data cited in the report. Cox Automotive data shared with Business Insider showed 20 models with average transaction prices under $30,000 in April, down from 27 models in May of the previous year.
Four of those models carried average MSRPs above $30,000, indicating discounts helped some vehicles stay below the threshold.
Lowest-priced models The Hyundai Venue carries the lowest listed starting price at $20,550. The Chevrolet Trax follows at $21,700 for its base trim. Kia's K4 sedan starts at $22,290. The Nissan Sentra begins at $22,600, and the Hyundai Elantra starts at $22,625.
The Nissan Kicks is listed from $22,730. Toyota's Corolla starts at $23,125, and the Chevrolet Trailblazer begins at $23,300. Kia's Seltos starts at $23,790, and the Volkswagen Jetta begins at $23,995. All prices are before destination fees and other charges.
The report noted that average monthly payments remain above $750 and that loan terms are approaching seven years for many buyers.
