Tennessee Titans to Induct Chris Johnson into Ring of Honor at 2026 Opener

The Tennessee Titans announced they will induct former running back Chris Johnson into the team's Ring of Honor at halftime of the 2026 season opener on Sunday, September 13, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, though the opponent for that game has not yet been announced.

Johnson, 40, revealed his ALS diagnosis last month. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said Johnson holds a special place in the hearts of the organization and its fans.

She added that his statistics speak for themselves and that he will remain a leader in the team's record books, while noting the man behind the yardage deserves equal celebration. The Titans selected Johnson with the 24th pick of the 2008 NFL Draft.

He played six seasons in Tennessee from 2008 to 2013 and exceeded 1,000 rushing yards each year. His 7,965 career rushing yards rank fourth in franchise history, and his 58 total touchdowns also rank fourth.

In 2009 Johnson rushed for 2,006 yards, the seventh-highest single-season total in NFL history. He added 503 receiving yards that year for a league-record 2,509 yards from scrimmage and earned NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors. "Honestly, I don't know if you ever fully process it," Johnson said of his ALS diagnosis.
