Tennis player wears custom kimono at Wimbledon

A tennis player appeared at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Monday wearing a custom white outfit before the tournament. The garment featured a wrap silhouette with a wide obi belt and opaque fabric that reached mid-thigh, with cascading sheer ruffles falling from the hem to the floor.

Design details The designer embroidered the material with cranes and cherry blossoms using vintage shiromuku, traditional Japanese bridal garments, wedding gowns and antique kimonos. The player's hair was pulled into a tight bun adorned with white flowers.

The player wore diamond and pearl drop earrings valued at $6,000 and two matching diamond and pearl bangles valued at $16,000 each from Mikimoto.
