The work prepares the site for installation of new lines dedicated to Optimus robot production. The Model S and Model X lines had occupied the space now being cleared.
Tesla stated that once the Optimus lines reach full capacity, the same factory space will support an annual output of one million robots. No timeline was given for when the new robot lines will begin operation. The Optimus lines are planned for the Fremont facility.
