Tesla Delivers Record 480,126 Vehicles in Second Quarter

Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles in the second quarter of 2026, a record for the period and 25 percent above the 384,122 vehicles delivered a year earlier. The total surpassed the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of 402,776 vehicles. The company produced 451,758 vehicles during the quarter.

Deliveries exceeded production by more than 28,000 units, allowing Tesla to reduce inventory accumulated in the first quarter. Tesla shares fell about 6 percent on the day of the report after rising 12 percent earlier in the week, according to the New York Post. The company said it will release quarterly financial results on July 22 after markets close.

Tesla expects capital expenditure to exceed $25 billion in 2026, nearly triple the $8.5 billion spent in 2025, to support expansion of AI infrastructure, battery production, Cybercab manufacturing and Optimus robots. The company has continued rolling out its Full Self-Driving software in Europe, where it is available in only a handful of countries, the Netherlands, Estonia, Greece and Lithuania among them, AP News reported.

Tesla expanded its robotaxi operations after launching a limited commercial service in Austin in June.

Rivian raised its annual deliveries forecast and beat estimates for its own second-quarter deliveries, the New York Post reported.
