Texas Democratic Senate candidate raises $30 million in second quarter

The campaign of Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico announced on Wednesday that it raised $30 million in the second quarter of 2026. The figure is more than triple the $9 million reported by Republican rival Ken Paxton for the same three-month period.
Talarico, a state representative, is running against Paxton, the state attorney general, for the seat held by outgoing Sen. John Cornyn.
Fundraising comparison Talarico said around 97 percent of contributions were $100 or less. He stated the donations came from more than 780,000 supporters. Paxton's campaign reported raising more in the second quarter than in all prior quarters combined, which totaled about $7.7 million from April 2025 through spring 2026.
A statement from Paxton's campaign said the numbers show Texans are energized to send a conservative to the Senate.
Race context The November election is three months away.
Talarico previously raised $27 million in the first quarter of 2026 and collected $600,000 in the two hours after Paxton's primary runoff win in May. Polling shows a close contest.
