Texas Judge Lets Brendan Sorsby Play but Imposes Two-Game Suspension

A Texas judge granted an injunction allowing quarterback Brendan Sorsby to remain eligible to play for Texas Tech after he checked himself into a treatment program for gambling addiction. The same judge imposed a two-game suspension on Sorsby. The NCAA had attempted to ban him for life over the violations.
Sorsby placed bets on individual pitches in Cincinnati Reds games. He also placed bets on games involving the Indiana Hoosiers while a member of that team and bet against his own Indiana Hoosiers team. Sorsby previously played for Indiana and Cincinnati.
He is now preparing to play for Texas Tech in fall 2026.
