U.S. metropolitan areas, according to a CBRE report cited by Fox News. Austin recorded 88 headquarters relocations and Houston recorded 31 during the same period.

The three Texas metros together accounted for a substantial share of the 725 companies that relocated headquarters nationwide from 2018 to 2025. Companies cited growth opportunities, lower operating costs, and lighter regulation as reasons for the moves. Florida, particularly Miami, also emerged as a major beneficiary.

Six companies moved operations to Miami from Los Angeles, the Bay Area, or Boston in the past year. Companies told CBRE that Miami’s expanding startup scene and growing pool of finance and tech talent are making the city attractive. International firms are moving to South Florida because of its strong tourism, travel, and beauty industries.

The San Francisco Bay Area recorded a net loss of 163 headquarters between 2018 and 2025. Companies leaving California cited taxes, labor rules, and soaring living costs as reasons for relocating. Corporate headquarters relocations are occurring from high-tax coastal hubs to lower-tax Republican strongholds.

Texas attracted a wave of headquarters relocations from high-tax blue states between 2018 and 2025.
