yardbarker.comTransfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby will not play for Texas Tech this fall and instead plans to enter the NFL supplemental draft, ending an eligibility dispute tied to prior gambling. The decision follows reports that Sorsby acknowledged betting on college games while at a previous school. He recently completed a residential treatment program for gambling addiction.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn was asked about Sorsby during a Tuesday media session. Glenn said he is focused on the quarterbacks already on the roster. "I’m focused on the guys that we have here now," Glenn said. "I’m sure that’s something me and [general manager Darren Mougey] will talk about.
" Glenn declined to comment on Sorsby’s gambling history. "I have no idea what that is, to be honest with you," he said. "I’ve seen it on TV, but I don’t want to respond to that because I have no idea of the inner workings of that. " Reports indicate the Browns are unlikely to bid on Sorsby.
Other teams have expressed concern that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could impose a suspension before the 2026 season.
Sorsby’s case involved an extended legal challenge over his NCAA eligibility after he transferred to Texas Tech. The dispute centered on whether his prior gambling activity violated eligibility rules. The quarterback’s decision to enter the supplemental draft removes him from Texas Tech’s roster for the upcoming season.
