Texas Teen Awaits Verdict in Track Meet Stabbing

Prosecutors described the stabbing as unjustified violence, while the defense maintains the defendant acted to protect himself after being confronted under a tent belonging to the other student's track team.
Over nearly a week of testimony, jurors heard from student witnesses who described a tense exchange in the bleachers and team area. Several recalled the defendant warning the other student, "Touch me and see what happens," before the victim pushed him and the defendant allegedly produced a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
" The defendant did not testify. If convicted, he faces a possible life sentence. Both prosecutors and the victim's father have stated that race did not factor into the confrontation, despite national attention and social media debate following the incident.
