Thames Valley Police are investigating an alleged encounter between Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and a woman at Royal Ascot in 2002. The Sunday Times reported that detectives are examining events from that year as they consider wider possible crimes including sexual misconduct, corruption and fraud.

The racing festival that year was attended by Queen Elizabeth, the future King Charles, Prince Edward and Princess Beatrice.

It remains unclear whether the claim was reported to police at the time or lodged more recently. Detectives are treating the 2002 matter as part of a broader investigation into the former prince. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on his 66th birthday in February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office for passing classified information to Jeffrey Epstein.

He was stripped of his titles in 2025 because of his ties to Epstein. Virginia Giuffre has stated that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor raped her.
