Thoma Bravo Founder Says AI Reduces Late-Night Requests to Junior Staff
Orlando Bravo stated that AI tools now handle tasks previously assigned to junior employees at his firm. He said the change has prompted plans to hire more associates for the first time in his career.
Orlando Bravo, founder of the private equity firm Thoma Bravo, said AI now lets him complete tasks at midnight without calling junior staff. He made the comments Tuesday at a conference in Berlin. Bravo manages a firm with roughly 220 employees and more than $180 billion in assets under management.
Bravo said associates can now spend more time contacting companies and building relationships with chief executives. He added that the firm needs more of these employees rather than fewer. He rejected the idea that AI will eliminate associate positions, noting that the technology instead raises the level of work they perform.
Insider reported that questions about long entry-level hours on Wall Street have continued for decades, with some staff reporting weeks above 100 hours. AI tools can now complete tasks such as building financial models and pitch decks. Bravo said the change allows younger employees to advance more quickly.
