Three Cuban nationals taken into custody after legal status revoked

Federal agents detained three Cuban nationals this week after the State Department ended their legal status. One man is accused of working for more than a decade for a Cuban government-linked organization. The State Department announced Wednesday that Carlos Antonio Lloga Dominguez, his wife, and their son are in federal custody pending removal from the United States.

Officials said Lloga Dominguez spent more than a decade employed by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People, described by the department as the Cuban regime's premier influence and intelligence front group in the United States.

Background on the organization The State Department said the institute maintains an outsized footprint across the United States and has been accused of trafficking in anti-American propaganda and lobbying politicians on behalf of the Cuban government.

The institute was sanctioned earlier this month, freezing its U.S.-based assets and generally barring Americans from doing business with it. The institute has denied any wrongdoing and says it is a civil society organization. Officials maintain that the group coordinates with far-left organizations in the United States.

A senior State Department official told Fox News Digital that the apprehensions reflect America First leadership in the region. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement that America will never become home for foreign communists who peddle propaganda or run subversive influence operations.
