Three Generations of Long Island Women Charged in Death of 7-Year-Old Girl
Suffolk County prosecutors charged three women with murder and related counts after a 7-year-old girl died from untreated injuries. The girl had been placed in the home by child care officials one year earlier.
New York PostSuffolk County prosecutors charged a 50-year-old woman with second-degree murder and additional counts after a 7-year-old girl died from untreated sharp force injuries. The woman’s mother and daughter also face charges in the case. The girl had been placed in the Bayport home by child care officials in December 2024.
Officials granted custody to the 50-year-old woman in April 2025. Over the following year, the girl missed approximately 40 days of school.
December 29, police responded to a 911 call at the home reporting cardiac arrest. The girl was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Suffolk County and was pronounced dead. An autopsy later determined that death resulted from a massive untreated infection linked to sharp force injuries dating back to at least January 2025.
The 50-year-old woman was ordered held on $5 million cash bail or a $10 million bond. Her 75-year-old mother faces second-degree manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child charges and is held on $50,000 cash bail or a $500,000 bond. The 24-year-old daughter was charged with unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child and is held on $25,000 cash bail or a $250,000 bond.
Tierney said the case involved months of alleged systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse. He added that the child was allegedly left to die while the defendants watched her deteriorate.
