Three Inmates on Trial for Killing Convicted Child Murderer Kyle Bevan at HMP Wakefield
Mark Fellows, David Taylor and Lee Newell are accused of stabbing Kyle Bevan more than 30 times inside his cell at HMP Wakefield on November 4.
nypost.comThree inmates went on trial Wednesday at Leeds Crown Court for the November 4 killing of convicted child murderer Kyle Bevan inside his cell at HMP Wakefield. Prosecutor Jason Pitter told jurors that Mark Fellows, 45, David Taylor, 64, and Lee Newell, 57, followed Bevan into the cell and attacked him for four minutes and 39 seconds.
Surveillance video showed the three men leaving the cell about four and a half minutes after entering and appearing “satisfied,” Pitter said.
Bevan, 33, who was serving a life sentence for the 2020 murder of his two-year-old stepdaughter, was stabbed more than 30 times in the chest and abdomen. Pitter said at least one and probably more than one weapon was used and that the attackers used a sharp weapon to gut Bevan before moving him to his bed.
Bevan bled to death on the bed and was discovered by prison guards the next morning during roll call.
A folded piece of metal with Bevan’s blood on it was later found stashed behind a television, and other weapons were recovered from Taylor’s cell inside a bottle of chili sauce. Fellows and Newell were both serving life sentences for murder at the time of the attack.
