An iPhone crash alert reached Prince George's County Public Safety Communications about 15 minutes after departure, prompting a ground and aerial search near the intersection of routes 50 and 301. Rescuers located the wreckage in woods adjacent to a residential neighborhood. The three bodies were recovered; no injuries were reported on the ground.
Police withheld the names of the deceased pending notification of relatives. Investigators believe the plane belongs to a local flight school in Montgomery County and may have been on a training flight.
