Three men from Essex pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob after a jewellery store in Richmond was targeted in a January 31 raid. Deniz Mehmet, 28, of Elham Drive, Basildon, entered his plea at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, July 10. Robert Clarke, 50, of Lever Lane, Rochford, and Lee Ramsey, 46, of Hastingwood Road, Harlow, had already pleaded guilty at the same court on May 22.
The robbery was recorded on camera and showed the men using a sledgehammer to break the store window on Paved Court before taking an estimated £225,000 in jewellery. Police reviewed CCTV footage, conducted forensic analysis, and recovered a vehicle linked to the incident, which led to the arrests.
Mitchell, from the Met’s Flying Squad, said the guilty pleas mark a significant step in a detailed investigation. He added that robberies of this kind cause real concern for residents and businesses and that police will pursue those responsible. All three men remain in custody and will be sentenced on July 24.
Police reported that neighbourhood crime in the area fell 15.6 per cent in the last financial year.
