The Oklahoma City Thunder sent guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for second-round selections in 2030 and 2032. The move lowers Oklahoma City's projected luxury-tax bill by $61 million.
nypost.comThe Oklahoma City Thunder traded guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks for two second-round picks in 2030 and 2032, ESPN reported on June 22, 2026. The deal removes Wiggins' $9 million salary for the 2026-27 season from Oklahoma City's books and cuts an additional $61 million from the team's projected luxury-tax penalties.
Wiggins' contract with Atlanta includes $8.2 million for 2027-28 and an $8.2 million team option for 2028-29.
Over the past three seasons he averaged 17 points per 36 minutes and made 39 percent of his three-point attempts. His true-shooting percentage fell from 66 percent in 2023-24 to 60 percent in 2024-25 and 54 percent in 2025-26. Wiggins appeared in only 75 minutes during Oklahoma City's 2025-26 postseason run.
The Thunder's projected luxury-tax bill now stands at $152 million. Atlanta had extended guard CJ McCollum on a low-risk contract the previous weekend. In the Hawks' six-game playoff loss to the New York Knicks, Jonathan Kuminga was the only bench player to average more than five points per game or make more than eight shots in the series.
Wiggins is expected to move into a larger role off the bench. The NBA draft is scheduled for June 23 and 24 on ABC, ESPN and the ESPN app.
