Tom Hardy Removed from Paramount+ Series MobLand After Two Seasons
Tom Hardy was removed from the Paramount+ crime drama MobLand after production wrapped on season two. Multiple reports cited on-set issues involving the actor, executive producer Jez Butterworth, and co-star Helen Mirren.
nypost.comTom Hardy was removed from the Paramount+ series MobLand after completing two seasons, according to reports published Friday by Variety and Puck News. The English actor played a fixer for a London crime family. The cast also includes Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon and Daniel Betts.
Variety reported that Hardy was let go after on-set issues with Butterworth, 101 Studios and others. A Puck News report stated Hardy was consistently late during season-two filming, changed dialogue, expressed unhappiness with the ensemble cast and offered frequent script notes. The same report said Paramount fired Hardy after Butterworth threatened to leave the production.
The Daily Mail reported that Hardy’s behavior also affected his working relationship with Mirren. An unnamed source told the outlet that Mirren found Hardy playing games on his phone when he was supposed to be elsewhere and that she was frustrated by his lateness and tone.
The source added that the tension had become personal and that crew members noticed Mirren appeared less happy during scenes with Hardy. Season two finished filming in March. No premiere date has been announced and the series has not yet been renewed for a third season.
Page Six has contacted representatives for Hardy and Mirren.
