Toronto Tempo Defeat New York Liberty 93-91 in Montreal

The Toronto Tempo defeated the New York Liberty 93-91 on Sunday at the Bell Centre in Montreal, ending a four-game losing streak. Toronto built an early lead of as many as 10 points in the first quarter. The Liberty closed the gap after a disputed ruling on an Isabelle Harrison jump shot, then scored twice in the final six seconds of the period.

The Liberty tied the score at 26 early in the second quarter after an 11-2 run. Toronto responded with a 15-4 run in the final five minutes of the half to regain control.

Mabrey scored 12 points in the third quarter after going 1-for-4 in the first half. Toronto extended its lead to 20 points during the period. The Liberty cut the deficit to single digits early in the fourth quarter and tied the game at 91 with under a minute remaining.

Nyara Sabally scored a layup that proved to be the winning basket. Toronto shot 37.5 percent from three-point range, nearly double the Liberty's rate. The Tempo outscored New York 24-2 on fast-break points. The Tempo will host the Washington Mystics on July 14.

The Liberty will face the Dallas Wings on July 16.
