Trae Young appeared at the Fanatics Fest event in New York City and entered on a WWE professional wrestling-themed stage and ramp. Newsweek reported that he arrived to the entrance song and graphics of WWE star Rey Mysterio. Young pulled out a Jalen Brunson jersey, attempted to rip it apart, and was booed by the crowd.
Young tossed the jersey into the crowd. He said, "You know how it is, we in New York. " Young made a heart gesture with his hands before exiting the stage. Young scored a game-winner in Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Playoffs series between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.
In Game 5 of that series, he scored 36 points and had nine assists as the Hawks defeated the Knicks in five games. He also spun a basketball on the New York Knicks logo after the Hawks defeated the Knicks in a 2024 NBA Cup game. Young was traded from the Atlanta Hawks to the Washington Wizards last season.
