The subpoenas requested travel records, communications and financial records connected to Cuba activities, including possible contacts with Cuban government personnel or entities. The Nuestra América Convoy brought hundreds of activists, politicians, journalists and organizers from dozens of countries to Cuba and delivered an estimated 40 tons of supplies in March 2026.
Progressive International described the operation as involving approximately 650 delegates from 33 countries and 120 organizations. The convoy combined charter flights, maritime flotillas and aid shipments carrying food, medicine, medical supplies and solar panels.

Adler sat in a VIP seat beside Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the event, where Díaz-Canel raised his fist in the air. Piker said he consulted Ben Rhodes prior to traveling to Cuba. Rhodes told Piker, "You're going to be very sad when you see it," regarding the situation in Cuba.
Piker boarded a special plane departing from Miami as part of the convoy. The plane was the same one used by CodePink's delegation. Piker credited Progressive International, CodePink and the ANSWER Coalition for organizing the flight with medical aid, solar panels and food.
He described himself as "good friends" with Progressive International organizers and identified Adler and Yanis Varoufakis by name when discussing the organization. " Adler replied, "Thanks, brother. " Piker said he went to Cuba as "a journalist" and embedded with "Belly of the Beast" while in Havana.
His Cuba documentary features an interview with Carlos Fernández de Cossío, Cuba's vice minister of foreign affairs. Progressive International was founded in 2020. , from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1, 2018.

In 2024, Germany barred Varoufakis from entering the country for leading anti-Israel protests. Mariela Castro Espín, daughter of former Cuban leader Raúl Castro, serves on the advisory council of Progressive International. She is a member of Cuba's National Assembly.
