Trial Hears Testimony on Fatal Stabbing of Teenager at Irvine Beach
A witness described events leading to the death of 16-year-old Kayden Moy during a confrontation at Irvine Beach in May 2025. The testimony was given at the High Court in Glasgow in the trial of two accused.
The BbcA teenage witness told jurors she received a phone call from the mother of a fatally stabbed boy and was asked not to confirm his death. The witness gave evidence at the High Court in Glasgow in the trial of Jay Stewart, 18, and a 15-year-old boy. Both are accused of murdering 16-year-old Kayden Moy on Irvine Beach on 17 May last year.
The charge states that Stewart and his co-accused, along with a third teenager named Cole Turley, pursued Moy and caused him to fall before repeatedly stabbing him. Jurors have heard that the three were members of the Murray Boys gang in East Kilbride and that Moy belonged to a rival group.
The 17-year-old witness said she was at the beach with friends when rocks were thrown at their group. She stated she told the boys to stop fighting before the attack occurred.
The witness said she saw Turley stab Moy after he slipped.
She described holding Moy's head on her knees while he said he could not breathe and his eyes rolled back. She said she then received the call from Moy's mother. The girl stated she replied she did not want to tell the mother what had happened. Another witness, Phoebe Lowry, 19, told the court she helped apply pressure to Moy's wound with a towel.
She said a person claiming to be a nurse performed CPR while the group waited for emergency services. The trial before Judge Lord Scott continues.
